Q1: The Hardest Part of Getting Clients

Michelle: What was the hardest part of getting clients when no one really knew you?


Eric: Confidence. You need the courage to put yourself out there, get rejected, and keep going. I went door-to-door offering free business card designs — some of those clients are still with us over a decade later.

Q2: Retaining Clients

Michelle: How do you keep clients once you’ve landed them?


Eric: Treat it like a partnership. Strong communication, frequent check-ins, and aligning with their goals. One client we started with at one clinic grew to three, and we even launched a side business together.

Q3: Systems to Scale

Michelle: When did you realize you needed systems to scale?


Eric: Very early. Even freelancers should set up project management tools and document processes. Roadmaps and systems give clients confidence and create structure for your team to grow.

Q4: The Most Important Thing to Focus on Tomorrow

Michelle: What’s the single most important thing to focus on tomorrow?


Eric: Confidence and visibility. Put out content, even if it’s not perfect. I shared one vulnerable post — it led to a DM, a proposal, and a five-figure project. Believe in yourself and get out of your comfort zone.

Q5: My Biggest Misstep

Michelle: Can you share one of your biggest missteps and what you learned?


Eric: Waiting too long to niche down. If you focus on one industry you love, learn its language, and solve its problems, you position yourself as the expert. That makes it much easier to win business.
